Over 200 Youth Attend First Find Yourself Friday Event
Over 200 youth attended the first "Find Yourself Friday" youth event of the new school year – the largest turn out yet! The event was held at the Milford Youth Center on Friday, September 30th from 7-10 pm and included music, dancing, raffles, games, snacks, and a movie presentation of “Rio.”
This month, the theme of the event was "Back to School!" Youth were charged a small entrance fee of $2.00, or $1.00 if the student(s) bring a pair of gently used or new sneakers. The sneakers will be sent and distributed to youth in the Boca Chica Region of the Dominican Republic. The youth were able to collect over 100 pairs of sneakers, which will be distributed by Rev. Jose Medina of Framingham and Jenny Medina of Milford, along with other volunteers, when they return to the Dominican Republic in December!
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event including The Juvenile Advocacy Group, JAG Youth Council, the Milford Youth Center, CHNA-6, United Way of Tri-County, Framingham Pizza and the Sourial family for donating pizza for the volunteers, Hannafords of Milford for donating the snacks and Steve Cassinelli and Musician Resource Center for lending the music equipment.
For more information, or if you would like to volunteer at the next event please contact Youth Council Coordinator Jen Ward at jenward24@gmail.com or 508-473-1756.
